The Development of Regions Programme 2021-2027 was approved by the European Commission on 16 December 2022 and includes ERDF Priority 1 and Priority 2. RDP 2021-2027 is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the national budget. During the programming period 2021-2027, integrated urban and regional development projects will be implemented, focusing on 50 municipalities in the six Level 2 regions.

The main investments will be implemented in accordance with the objectives and priorities set out in the Integrated Territorial Development Strategies of the Level 2 Planning Regions for the period 2021-2027 approved by the Council of Ministers on 16 November 2022.

The RDP 2021-2027 will be implemented through the application of integrated territorial development instruments in order to achieve a better investment focus, more effective and efficient interventions, enhanced cross-sectoral dialogue and successful partnerships between different stakeholders at local level.

The planned measures are aimed at renewal and modernisation of road, educational, health, social and cultural infrastructure, energy efficiency and sustainable urban mobility, development of tourism and sports, support for green urban environment and security of public spaces, as well as measures to promote economic activity.

By Decision C(2023)9266 final of 20.12.2023, the European Commission approved version 2.2 of the Programme for the Development of Regions for the period 2021-2027 with the inclusion of priorities under the Just Transition Fund. The documents can be found here.
